What is Backplane Bus? – Computer Architecture

Backplane Bus is a single bus interconnecting all the components of a computer system. It is called so because this single bus can be considered as backbone communication medium to which various computer components are attached.

It consist of a group of wires and these wires are partitioned into control, data and address wires.

1. Control Wires

Control Wires are the wires used to carry control signals to the different units of a computer system.

2. Address wires

Address wires are the wires used to carry the addresses of the specific data in memory.

3. Data wires

Data wires are used to carry data to different units of the computer system
